HOW YOU CAN USE THIS MATERIAL:

Immunisation programme managers and other practitioners can learn from Burkina Faso’s experience integrating COVID-19 vaccination with routine immunisation efforts to better identify and vaccinate zero-dose and under-vaccinated children, as well as increase the number of COVID-19 vaccines provided to communities.

OVERVIEW:

The devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic meant that countries around the world could not reach millions of children with essential immunization services, leaving them vulnerable to life-threatening, preventable diseases. To address this challenge in Burkina Faso, MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience supported the country’s Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MoH) to develop a strategy to integrate COVID-19 vaccination campaigns with routine immunization efforts, helping to maximize the use of resources to identify and vaccinate “zero-dose” and under-vaccinated children and their families.
