Linked Network Facilitators chatted with representatives from the Steering Committee to learn more about their experiences working in immunisation, what they are most looking forward to from the network, as well as some fun, personal facts about themselves. This spotlight features Hashta Meyta, Head, Secretariat for Coordination and Integration Immunisation Programme, Ministry of Health, Indonesia.
You were also a member of the Learning Network for Countries in Transition, the previous phase of the Linked Immunisation Action Network. What tips can you give other countries to ensure they gain the most out of the peer-to-peer learning approach?
I am excited about how countries in transition find ways to exit from Gavi support. And at the other side, I also would like to find out what the appropriate Gavi’s policy in different situation of countries.
What experiences are you most excited to bring to the Steering Committee?
The issue of communication with key actors in the country to adopt Advance Market Commitment (AMC) or purchasing vaccine through UNICEF is my most challenging experience.
What do you do professionally? What do you like most about what you do?
I am currently appointed as Head, Secretariat for Coordination and Integration Gavi Immunization Program at the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia (Executive Secretary). I like being the bridge of communication between MoH and Gavi.
What is your favorite part of the city you live in?
Various culinary available from the street vendors.
Hashta Meyta is experienced in social and health quarantine system including Expanded Program Immunisation (EPI) with more than ten years experience. She is currently working at the National level – the Ministry of Health of Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, and holds the position of Executive Secretary for the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (Gavi) project in Indonesia. She really likes to be creative and innovative, and also provide solutions (or developing previous ideas). In addition to the above, Hashta also likes building networks with various cross-programs/sectors in order to achieve the goals of a national program. She has the passion to develop the existing health system to be even better and be able to contribute to my organization in providing better access to health services for the whole community and to make foreign grant aid proposals, with comprehensive planning and innovative ideas to overcome the gaps. Hashta is always active in doing things that are useful for the sustainability of government programs, a path that determines the better future for country.
